Mysteries of the Force

It’s soon time to begin previewing Legends of the Force! As in the past, I’ve assembled some fun facts about the set to give you some information about the set, even if it’s not the full story. Let the speculation begin!
Thematically, this set is all about using the Force. In fact, it’s so fundamental to the set’s identity that we added the phrase “use the Force” into rules text! But did you also know…
- This set represents the most eras and source materials of any set so far, reaching back before the prequels and into fan-favorite corners of the Star Wars™ galaxy.
- There are more Jedi units in this set than there are Vehicle units. In fact, Jedi is the second-most prolific trait in the set! (after Force, obviously)
- Among all the cards with the Cunning aspect, there are six different lightsaber colors represented (this is more than the other aspects, which only get four lightsaber colors each).
- Speaking of lightsabers, this set features ten of them, including multiple different common designs and a Vehicle unit that gets stronger while you control a Lightsaber upgrade.
- Four different leaders in this set care explicitly about playing non-unit cards or about including them in your deck.
- There are two powerful cards in the set that reward you for playing two unrelated Traits in the same deck. (It’s the same two traits on both cards.)
- This set introduces a brand-new frame treatment on leaders, units, events, and upgrades that will also appear in some future sets.

Unlike with previous sets, the team helped me write the subtitles for Legends of the Force, and we had a lot of fun pulling quotes and finding exciting phrases to identify the heroes and villains that appear. So, what are some of the subtitles you can find in this set?
- Overeager Apprentice
- A Chance to Make Things Right
- I Know Your Story
- Tempted by the Dark Side
- Following the Call
- Seething With Ambition
- Where Are We Going?
- Finding Himself
- A Hero’s Beginning
- Folklore Awakened
- With Palpatine’s Power
- Twilight of the Apprentice

We really dialed up the number of unique units in this set, with 79 different unique units across the entirety of Legends of the Force. But that’s not the only fun piece of trivia; did you know…
- There is a card with two different When Played abilities printed on it.
- A neutral event in this set has an identical text box to a card from a previous set (that had an aspect).
- The two largest ground units we’ve ever printed appear in this set, each with 20 combined Power and HP.
- There is a Villainy unit with one eye, a Vigilance unit with 10 eyes, and an Aggression unit with 45 eyes (I can’t guarantee it’s exactly 45, but, you know, who’s gonna count them, really?)
- There are three villainous Jedi in the set, two heroic cards that directly call out the Villainy aspect, and one unit that lets you play any Lightsaber you want for free.
- The difference in deployment costs between the highest-cost leader and the lowest-cost leader in the set is 5.
- Four different cards in the set all reference scenes from the same novel.
- Here are several trait combinations that appear in Legends of the Force that have never appeared on a card together until now:
- Imperial + Night
- Vehicle + Inquisitor
- Jedi + Wookiee
- Creature + Trooper
- Night + Undead
- Sith + Droid
- Gungan + Trooper

Finally, I know fans are always eager to know what cards do. I can answer some of those questions…but I can’t promise you’re seeing the whole story with each of these abilities. What cards do you think they’re on, and what else could they do?
- This unit gets +2/+0 for each damage on him.
- …for each Trooper unit in your discard pile.
- While this unit is in the space arena…
- Choose 2 friendly unique Sith units.
- …friendly Vehicle units get +6/+6.
- Return an enemy non-leader unit to its owner’s hand unless its controller says…
- The same is true for Restore.
- When you draw this card during the action phase:
- For each Force card discarded this way…
- Attached unit’s printed power is considered to be…
- When Deployed: You may discard your hand.
- Use this ability no more than 3 times each game.
- The next time you take the initiative this phase…
- If you attacked with a Jedi unit this phase…

That’s all the clues I have for you today! I look forward to seeing everyone’s speculation on social media as we begin preview season in the next few weeks.
Until then, may you feel inspired to try something new.
