A Lawless Time

November 22, 2025 | Written by Peter Schumacher

Around this time in 2024, we closed the book on the first year of the Star Wars™: Unlimited trading card game, celebrating the release of Twilight of the Republic while also looking ahead to the beginning of the game’s second year. Now, we once again find ourselves in the twilight of the year, and as we all enjoy the release of Secrets of Power, it’s time to take a look at the lawless time that comes after it.

Welcome to the official first look at A Lawless Time, the thrilling next set of Star Wars: Unlimited!

Where Secrets of Power was full of officials and schemers who operated technically within the law, A Lawless Time is all about those who break it. This set shines the spotlight on daring heists, thrilling raids, fearless outlaws, and criminal masterminds from across multiple eras of the Star Wars galaxy. Here, what matters most is cold, hard credits, and no rule is too sacred to break—not even the “rule” of how many aspects can be on a card! With a new token type and the introduction of the game’s first “multi-aspect” cards, this set is sure to shake up the game in ways unlike anything you’ve seen yet.

We’ve got a lot to cover today, so without further ado, let’s take a look at what’s in store for A Lawless Time!

As always, we begin the set with a new pair of Spotlight Deck leaders. In A Lawless Time, the Spotlight Decks feature Jabba the Hutt and Leia Organa as leaders, each coming with 4 additional Special-rarity cards in their pre-built decks. Each leader also showcases one of the two new “big things” about this set, which we’ll go over in a moment.

Speaking of “big things,” our first leader, Jabba the Hutt (A Lawless Time, 15) is a Cunning and Villainy leader whose playstyle demonstrates the first of the set’s new features, the Credit (A Lawless Time, T01) token! This special token can be defeated at any time to help you pay the resource cost of a card, whether it’s to play that card or trigger an ability on it. It doesn’t count as a resource you control for any game effects (such as deploying your leader), but there are plenty of other ways you can take advantage of some extra funds.

True to his status as a crime boss, the Jabba leader is all about credits. On his non-unit side, Jabba can generate credits by returning a friendly Underworld unit to your hand. While this may seem detrimental at first, you could think of it as an investment for later, especially since you can use a low-cost unit like Salacious Crumb (A Lawless Time, 210) to help you pay for it. If you don’t have an Underworld unit to spare, you can also crab a credit token through some Unmarked Credits (A Lawless Time, 244), ensuring you’ve always got some money on hand.

Once you’ve built up a solid stockpile of credits, you can deploy Jabba to get access to the ability of his unit side, which lets you grant any Underworld unit Ambush so long as you use at least one credit token to help pay for it. As you might expect, this is a powerful ability with a wide range of applications, such as allowing a heavy-hitter like Jabba’s Rancor (A Lawless Time, 216) to swing against an enemy the moment it enters play. Of course, the Rancor isn’t the only dangerous creature lurking in Jabba’s deck; by using the Epic Action on the unique base Great Pit of Carkoon (A Lawless Time, 23), you can summon The Sarlacc of Carkoon (A Lawless Time, 163) into your hand, granting you access to a massive unit that can deal devastating damage to your opponent’s ground forces. Even though the Sarlacc doesn’t have the Underworld trait, you can still use your credit tokens to help get into play earlier than its high cost would normally allow. Now, if only there was a way to give it the Underworld trait so Jabba could give the Sarlacc Ambush

Shifting from one Spotlight Deck leader to the other, we have Leia Organa (A Lawless Time, 10), a Command and Heroism leader whose playstyle is all about having multiple aspects in her deck. And when we say “multiple aspects,” we mean that very literally! As we alluded to earlier in this article, A Lawless Time introduces the very first “multi-aspect” cards into Star Wars: Unlimited. These are cards that have two primary aspects, rather than one primary and one Heroism/Villainy, which means they have much more restrictive deckbuilding requirements—and the extra power to compensate for it!

Take Han Solo (A Lawless Time, 37), for example. A Vigilance and Command unit that starts off relatively weak, Han gradually grows in strength the more attacks he’s able to make, eventually becoming a powerhouse that can dish out tons of damage. He works well with the ability of the Leia leader’s non-unit side, who can grant Han +2/+2 for the phase and help him survive long enough to build up his Experience tokens. With R2-D2 (A Lawless Time, 145), you can pull a unit from your deck that shares an aspect with one of your units in play, which is easy to do when so many of the units in Leia’s deck have multiple aspects. With just R2-D2 himself in play, you can grab Han, a Jaunty Light Freighter (A Lawless Time, 147), or Zeb Orellios (A Lawless Time, 45), any of whom can be a potent ally under the right circumstances. You may have noticed that Zeb actually has three aspect icons—Vigilance, Aggression, and Heroism—which means he can especially benefit from Leia’s leader ability, turning him into an impressive 7/7 unit when fully online!

Since there are more than three aspects among the cards in Leia’s deck, she’s going to need a bit of assistance to get her cards with non-Vigilance, non-Command aspects like Zeb into play. Fortunately, the Common base Daimyo’s Palace (A Lawless Time, 20) provides a tool to do exactly that. Like all Common bases in this set, the Epic Action on Daimyo’s Palace allows you to ignore an aspect while playing a card, which means you can play Zeb without worrying about the aspect penalty you would normally get for his Aggression icon. With just Zeb in play, you’ll have four aspects among friendly units after you deploy your Leia leader, allowing her to instantly grant four Experience tokens to a unit of your choice, including Leia herself. Equip Leia’s Disguise (A Lawless Time, 111) to her, and you can also grant that same unit a Shield token. Whether you choose to boost Leia or Zeb, your opponent will be staring down a terrifying 8/8 unit with a Shield, and that’s still not taking into account the rest of the cards in your deck!

With over 260 new cards, Credit tokens, and tons of new aspect combinations, A Lawless Time promises to shake up the game in new and exciting ways as we head into the third year of Star Wars: Unlimited. Stay tuned for more news, previews, card spoilers, and gameplay as we look forward to the set’s release in March 2026!
